Vermentino and Gallura

Vermentino di Gallura: the production area of the DOCG wine is in northern Sardinia.

The production area is Gallura, a territory that extends in the north-eastern part of Sardinia, almost entirely in the province of Olbia-Tempio.
Famous for its crystalline sea and the beauty of its beaches, Gallura is characterized by granite rocks shaped by the wind and by dense Mediterranean scrub.
The inland area is characterized by forests of oaks, cork oaks and wild olive trees and of course vineyards.

Vermentino di Gallura D.O.C.G. grows in soil that has, in addition to good permeability and porosity, a high potassium content. These characteristics give the wines produced exceptional notes of aroma, alcohol content, minerality and a natural acidity.

Vinification and Refinement of DOCG Vermentino di Gallura Wine.

In the winemaking phases, only the typical winemaking practices of the area are permitted, which make the wines absolutely characteristic and of superior quality.

The winemaking of Vermentino di Gallura provides that the maximum yield of grapes into wine must not exceed 70% for all types of Vermentino di Gallura Wine, except for the Passito type whose yield/wine must not exceed 50%.

If these parameters are exceeded within the limit of 5%, the excess is not entitled to DOCG but can be requalified with the IGT Colli del Limbara or Isola dei Nuraghi. Beyond these limits, the right to DOCG for the entire product lapses.
